IDC STAFF Course Contents

Achieve a score of 80% on each part of the Dive Theory exam. Candidates who completed the Dive Theory Online option in the past 12 months (eRecord must show this) can receive credit for it.

Achieve a score of 80% on the PADI System, Standards, and Procedures exam.

Complete the 24 dive exercises in the Dive Exercise Assessment.

Achieve a minimum score of 4.0 on a Knowledge Development presentation.

Achieve a minimum score of 4.0 on a Confined Water teaching presentation.

Attend the four Knowledge Development sessions of the IDC Staff Instructor course.

Meet the following parameters when evaluating assessments:

For two out of three presentations, give the same score for three out of the five components of the evaluation criteria for Knowledge Development presentations.
For two out of three presentations, give the same score for three out of the five components of the evaluation criteria for Confined Water teaching presentations.
For two out of three presentations, give the same score for three out of four (non-demonstration) or three out of five (demonstration required) components of the evaluation criteria for Open Water teaching presentations.

Attend a complete IDC by being present at all required components of the IDC curriculum OR present all components of the Assistant Instructor course and score a minimum of 3.4 on each presentation.

Attending a complete IDC is preferred, if possible, because candidates can observe the organization, communication, and preparation of an IDC and then attend all parts of the training, as well as the evaluation and counseling sessions. If instructors are unable to attend a full IDC, they can complete their training by attending the missed components during subsequent IDCs.
If candidates are unable to attend a full IDC, they can complete their training by attending all components of the Assistant Instructor course and being evaluated.
